SHOPPING

In San Jose , the best shops are clustered along Bouleva rd Mijares (near the main plaza). At Plaza Mijares 10, check out Copal's finely woven hammocks from the Yucatan , gorgeous silver jewelry and handwoven rugs from Oaxaca . Veryka, in the same block, displays gallery-quality folk art from throughout Mexico . Huichol Collection specializes in beaded masks, wall hangings and belts made by the Huichol Indians. It's on Bouleva rd Mijares at Zaragoza . ADD, on Zaragoza at Mijares, concentrates on interior-design items.

DINING

Visitors of any palate will certainly find something to soothe their appetite in San Jose del Cabo.  The downtown along Mijares has several upmarket restaurants.  For a more moderate venues, your best bet is around Zaragoza and Obregon.  La Panya de San Jose serves up contemporary Mexican cuisine with a passion for seafood.  Jazmin, Cactus Jack's, Damiana Restaurant Bar & Patio, El Chilar Restaurant, La CenadurÍa del Poncho and La Picazon are but some of the names with delectable traditional, seafood as well as Tex Mex dishes.  Mercado del Mar Seafood, La Playita, Benny's Lobster House, La Panga Antigua Restaurant & Bar, and Las Velas are well-established names with their seafood specialties.  Baan Thai serves some of the best Pacific Rim as well as an eclectic mix of Asian cuisines around, whereas Italian delicacies are served up at Oasis Restaurant, Trattoria Chianti, Romanza Restaurant, and La Dolce.  Wonderful coffee and bakeries are recommended at Corre Caminos Bakery, La Baguette, and French Riviera.  In addition to this already dazzling food scene, there is also an option of international chains like Subway and Domino's Pizza.

NIGHTLIFE

Contrary to its swanky and lively neighbor, Cabo San Lucas, the night scene in San Jose del Cabo is remarkably more subdued; with venues being mostly day-time restaurants which have added live music or turn their dining halls into bars after the regular meal hours.  For some recommendation, Don Emiliano serves traditional Mexican cuisine with live music every night.  Tropicana is a colonial style restaurant where you can observe Cuban dancers providing entertainment.  Mi Cocina offers exquisitely-decorated food and accolades-winning wines, and the torch-lit atmosphere provides a captivating as well as romantic dinner.  La Cenaduria del Poncho has good local food and pleasant atmosphere especially on its terrace overlooking the square where you can sit back, sip a beer and watch the world goes by.  If, after all of these choices your heart still crave for some 'real' party scene, there is always an alternative called Cabo San Lucas.
