GETTING THERE

Air
There are several air carriers that service Puerto Vallarta's Aeropuerto Internacional Gustavo Diaz Ordaz airport (PVR). The airport is about 7.5km north of town. The flight from Mexico City to Puerto Vallarta takes 1.30 hours.

Bus
Travellers to Puerto Vallarta can take either Mexican bus or trans-border bus from the U.S. Every bus arrive at the Central Camionero (central bus station) which is one km north of the airport. Bus operators that service Puerto Vallarta include ETN, Transportes del Pacifico, Elite/Futura, Primera Plus, and Greyhound.

Ship
There are frequent cruise lines to Puerto Vallarta especially during the winter months. These cruise operators are Carnival, Holland America Line, Princess Cruises, and Royal Caribbean Cruises.

GETTING AROUND

Bus
There are city buses in Puerto Vallarta which serves downtown, Zoza Hotelera, and the southern beaches. Bus stops are marked by blue and white signs and can be found every two or three blocks along the highway and in town.

Car
Unless your itinerary involves outer-city exploration, driving in the crowded Puerto Vallarta may not be a very pleasant experience since traffic seems to fill the streets virtually every season, and the parking place is not usually easy to come by.  It is advisable that you take buses or taxis to get anywhere in the city instead.

Taxi
Taxis are plenty in the city and you can easily flag one on the street.  If the cabs do not have meter installed, be sure to agree on the fare before embarking.
