Punta Mita
To many, the rocky Punta Mita offers a great view of the Sierra Madre
Mountains as well as the calm ocean idyllic for marine pursuits. It is a
perfect place to escape from a hectic vacation for a tranquil enjoyment.
Bahia de Banderas
Bahia de Banderas stretches over the length of 160km, making it one of the
top-ten biggest bays in the world. The bay is a natural haven swollen with
manta rays, humpback whales and dolphins as well as water activity pursuers.
Sayulita
The increasingly popular beach of Sayulita sits north of Puntas Arenas and
is only less than an hour away from Puerto Vallarta. The beach has
excellent surfs and sand, and a more relaxing atmosphere than the bustling
Puerto Vallarta.
Isla Rio Cuale
The island is surrounded by the Rio Cuale and has an enormous market with
dazzling number of shops, outdoor stalls, stylish restaurants and cafes.
Case de la Cultura at the island's east end sells the work of local artists,
offers art and dance classes, and hosts cultural events.
Playa los Muertos
The history of battle between the Spanish and the Indians over the booty of
gold has earned the place this name "Beach of the Dead."
However, today it's the living, activity-crazy travellers who go and take
advantage of the fun this place has to offer.
El Malecon
The Malecon runs along the Playa de los Muertos beach through the heart of
downtown. The boardwalk features permanent art exhibits as several curious
and beautiful sculptures are dotted around, and some of the city's finest
restaurants, cafes and shops can be found here.
La Iglesia Nuestra Senora de Guadalupe
This is considered the center of Puerto Vallarta's religious life and a
significant landmark. The interior is decorated with hand-carved columns,
beautiful moldings and other rich detailing. The church is topped by an
ornate crown whose model is said to be the tiara worn by the mistress of the
Emperor Maximillian.
Casa Kimberley
This establishment is famous for being once a love nest of Elizabeth Taylor
and Richard Burton, but it's now open for public viewing. All the original
furnitures and decoration are left just as they were when the couple spent time
here filming a movie that started the boom for Puerto Vallarta's tourism
industry.
Museum Rio Cuale
The local museum of Puerto Vallarta may not be a grandiose structure, but
it's neatly organized and visitor-friendly. There are exhibits of
archeological finds from the area as well as other display to give information
on Mesoamerican history and art.
Tequila Porfidio
The exciting tour to this tequila factory give the visitors an insight into
how the plant is grown and manufactured to become the country's best known
liquor. Tasting is also available.
