Attractions in Monterrey  

Faro de Comercio
This commercial and industrial development symbol of the region stands proudly inside the Macroplaza.  Built in 1984 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Chamber of Commerce of the city of Monterrey.  Considered the tallest structure in the country with its towering 170 meters height, sometimes the green laser beam on its top is used to light up the Monterrey sky on special occasions.

Alameda
Every alameda (tree-lined avenue) in Mexico is traditionally the center of social life.  The Alameda in Monterrey provides a shaded oasis amidst day heat as well as venue for civil and cultural events.  A stroll through the beautiful gardens offers a refreshing as well as reflecting experience.

Barrio Antiguo
Barrio Antiguo is used to refer to a group of old houses behind the Metropolitan Cathedral which have withstood the erosion of time since the 17th-century.  Much refurbishment has been issued to preserve them since 1998, and many establishments in this community have become restaurants, bars and museums with distinctively refined atmosphere.  

Casino de Monterrey
This French-style predominated neo-classical building has long been used as an important meeting place and cultural venue.  The lavishly decorated exterior as well as interior decor alone are worth a visit to immerse in its beauty.

Antiguo Palacio Federal
Also known as the Edificio de Correos (post office building), this unique construction once served as the headquarters of the Federal Executive power.  The building's outstanding facade is intensified by straight lines, intense white color, and numerous large windows.

Catedral Metropolitana de Nuestra Senora de Monterrey
The Central Cathedral is magnificent both in its architectural style and its magnitude as the seat of the local prelate.  Dozens of colonial paintings and murals littered the interior of the cathedral which consumed the period over a century to complete the whole structure, resulting in the reflections of different architectural styles.  A visit to this sacred landmark is definitely a must for travellers to Monterrey.

Centro Cultural Alfa
The cultural center is meant to inspire scientific, technological and artistic endeavors, and it serves exactly its purpose.  The center houses the Museum of Science, Art and Technology as well as Omnimax system multi-plex theater for a gigantic panoramic screen measuring 24 meters in diameter.  

Museo de Historia Mexicana
The Museum of Mexican History in Monterrey shows that history can be enjoyed a fun way.  Four exhibit halls are organized to display the development of political, economic, social and cultural aspects of the nation from its early establishment up until the present time.  There are also regular cultural events and educational activities scheduled every month.    

Museo del Vidrio
Monterrey's history of glass making can be learned from this museum where exhibitions include varieties of displays from China, the U.S., Australia, France and Poland.  There are shows of glass blowing in action as well as exciting live demonstraions and videos.

Centro Cultural Arte
This cultural center is open to different artistic manifestations.  Its numerous exhibit rooms host displays on various subjects ranging from photography to architectures.  Exhibits by new talents' are given chance to show off alongside the temporary professional individual exhibits.

Biblioteca Universitaria
This library is part of the Universidad Autonoma de Nuevo Leon.  Besides its extensive books collection, the library also has a mission to provide a space to showcase works of art by students, hence there are exhibits of pictures, paintings and sculptures for interested viewers and art admirers in the library as well.
