Restaurants in El Centro Historico
The Old Town is the best area to sample the authentic flavor and atmosphere
of Mazatlan's dining scene. Most restaurants here are very casual in
nature and offers accommodating-priced meal. The rock-bottom prices can be
found at the loud and bustling restaurants on the upper floor of the market on
the corner of Melchor Ocampo and Juarez. Altazar Ars Cafe,
Machado are located around the Plaza Machado and serve great tacos (the fish
tacos in particular are highly recommended) as well as burgers and beer, whereas
Ambrosia offers a wide selection of vegetarian Mexican dishes. The
arguably best Mexican food in all of Mazatlan can be found at El Tunel
which is located across from the Teatro Angela Peralta where excellent
specialties and coffee are the main features. Patrons of European cuisine
may visit Cafe Pacifico or Royal Dutch where a relaxing atmosphere
and choices of savory meals and snacks are very welcoming. Jade is
the dominant Chinese restaurant of the area, and Marismena is a
well-known seafood restaurant. El Shrimp Bucket is definitely a
must for die-hard seafood lovers as it's one of the oldest and most renowned of
its kind. For tasty and moderately-priced breakfast, head to El Jardin or
Pasteleria Paname.
Restaurants in Zona Dorada
Zona Dorada offers many friendly restaurants with value meals for international
and local residents in the area. Some of the finest seafood in the country
as well as original Mexican dishes can be ordered at Los Arcos, Arre LuLu or
Anthony's. The best venue to enhance a romantic dinner is at Casa
Loma whose colonial decor surpasses those of the big hotels'. Coral
Reef Terrace is always swarmed with tourists, but a great place for a meal
or a cocktail at sunset. Fiestaland at the far end of the coastal
road boasts a conglomeration of night-clubs, discos and bars with fairly pricey
covers, but worth the atmosphere inside the Greco-Andalusian castle-like
structure. General meals and breakfast specials are served at No Name
Cafe, but it's also popular for cold beer and a convivial party atmosphere
with big-screen TV sports.
