Attractions in Cozumel  

Plaza Central
Plaza Central, or sometimes referred to as the zocalo, is the nexus of the city of San Miguel.  Here is the good starting place to explore shops, hotels and restaurants around the plaza.  Taking a walk here can be an exciting experience as the precinct is packed with people from all walks of life, both local and international.  There is also a free concert of dance and music every Sunday night.

Cozumel Mini-Golf
The Cozumel Mini-Golf offers a family-fun activity in a jungle-like setting.  The 18 holes of miniature golf course furnished with beautifully designed fountains, streams and waterfalls amidst banana and coconut trees.  Refreshments are also available and can be easily ordered through walkie-talkies located at several spots around the course.

El Caracol
Believed to have been built between the 12th and 14th A.D. as a Mayan lighthouse and a hurricane warning system, the ruins of this structure has today become part of the Parque Punta Sur nature reserve.

El Gervasio
San Gervasio is Cozumel's largest archaeological site and was once a Maya sacred center for worshipping the fertility goddess, Ixchel. It was continually occupied from 300 A.D. until the 16th century.  The Temples of Hands are so named for the small redprints decorating its walls.  

Arrecife Palancar
Certainly one of the best spots for diving and snorkeling as the Arrecife Palancar (Palancar Reef) boasts kilometers-long stretch of coral formations.  The underwater scenery is gorgeous beyond word and the brightly colored marine animals are just part of the whole tableau waiting to be seen and cherish.

Museo de la Isla de Cozumel
The Museum of Cozumel houses several fantastic exhibits worth visiting to learn more about the history of the island.  On the first floor visitors will find exhibits on endangered species, the original and present-day topography as well as plants and animal life, whereas the second-floor galleries showcase artefacts that survive the vicissitude of time to tell about history of the town from its pre-historic epoch onward.    

Parque Chankanaab
Parque Chankanaab is a site of historical museum, archeological site and recreation center packed into one.  Snorklers and divers can enjoy the underwater tour to visit sunken ships, anchors, statues and myriad schools of tropical fish.  At the same time, the nearby Parque Arqueologico offer a good spot to learn more about the Maya ruines.  The sea lion Park and its daily shows are sure-hits for children of all ages.

Parque Punta Sur
A relatively new natural reserve (opened in 1999), the Parque Punta Sur's duty is to conserve indigenous plants and animals, consequently prohibiting access to the park via vehicles.  If chance permits, visitors will be treated to the sight of animals such as egrets, crocodiles, foxes, herons and iguanas.  

Playa San Francisco
14km west of San Miguel is Playa San Francisco with amicable white sand beach.  It's a popular location for beach games and other sea-related sports as well as a relaxing activity like picnic.  There are also several restaurants in the vicinity, though the price may be a bit on the high side.
