SHOPPING
Cancun offers all kinds of artisans' products, souvenirs, and much more for
shopper's delights. Plaza Caracol is the largest and most modern of
the resort shopping with over 200 shops inside the two story mall of marbled
floors. Here you'll also find boutiques, galleries and restaurants as
well. For souvenir shopping, head to one of the places from the list of Plaza
Mexico, Mercado Municipal Ki-Huic, Plaza Terramar or Mayan Biosphere.
For high-quality and more upscale shopping, Plaza 2000, Liverpool, Plaza
Kukulcan or Intermall Plaza should be able to satiate you. For
the need of bulk products or reasonably-priced warehouse goods, there are
Bodega Gigante, Sam's
Club and Wal-Mart for you.
DINING
There are more restaurants than hotels in Cancun, and the competition is
fierce. Most restaurants serve seafood and steak, but there are also
Yucatecan, Italian, French, Middle Eastern, Chinese, Cajun and Polynesian as
well as many international and local fast food chains to be had. For
example, Gory Tacos, Perioc's, or Checandole generally serve tasty
Mexican dishes whereas you can get Lasagna from Dolcemente Pompeii.
100% Natural caters primarily to the vegetarian eaters, and salubrious
seafood meals can be found at Rio Nizuc. For good breakfast and
coffee, head to either El Mexon or El Pabila.
NIGHTLIFE
Cancun is famous for its nightlife. Among the popular hot spots are El
Azucar in the Camino Real and Coco Bongo, La Boom and Dady'O on
Boulevard Kukulcan. Senor Frog's is a good place to go for live
reggae or karaoke night. Want a place where you can change your mood
according to the music? Then step inside Pat O'Brien's where live
rock, blues and jazz are offered and where you can choose to sit in one of the
three rooms: a piano bar, a video lounge and an outdoor patio. Le Hooka
should also be given a go as it houses a hipster Middle Eastern-theme cafe
with interesting international DJ beats.
