SHOPPING
Cabo San Lucas offers some of the best shopping markets in Mexico, where the
shops are located along the waterfront and on the streets leading to the plaza. El
Callejon, on Guerrero between Ca
rd
enas and Madero, contains showrooms packed with pottery, glassware, furnishings
and other household items. El Rancho, a few doors down, specializes in
rural Baja pottery. Necri and Galeria Dorado on Bouleva
rd
Marina both carry high-quality folk art. Ex Hacienda La Gavia is a
delightful store that carries the work of artisans from across Mexico. Plaza
Bonita at the north end of Bouleva
rd
Marina houses several fine shops, including Dos Lunas (colorful tropical
clothing) and Cartes (handpainted dishes, pewter frames and delicate
glassware). There is also a glass factory where you can watch artisans create
handblown glasses, vases and pitchers. Libros, a fine bookstore carrying
English-language books on
Baja California
, plus other English-language books and magazines, is located on Bouleva
rd
Marina.
DINING
Being a favorite destination for international visitors, the diversity in
Cabo San Lucas' dining scene grows with the various palates it endeavors to
satisfy. Seafood in particular is fresh and is one of the famous cuisine,
and Peacock's, Edith's and Mocambo are certainly the places to go
for delicious lobster dishes, while Seafood's Mama offers you a rare
chance to dine in a lighthouse by the marina. Fish burritos served at Villa
Serena is to die for while the restaurant has a great view of the Sea of
Cortez. For local and regional specialties, Micasa has a
large pleasant patio with great dishes, while Pancho's and Tropicana are
great for any meal of the day with their meticulously prepared Mexican
specialties. Italian cuisine makes a lively appearance in Cabo, and many
restaurants such as Da Giorgio II, Romeo Y Julieta, and Da Antonio just
serve to accentuate that fact. A variety of food ranging from grilled sea
bass to tender veal steak is served at the seafront Bella California
while the tasty Pacific Rim cuisine coupled with a large selection of wines are
special features of Which also
offers a wonderful view of Land's End. Tequila Restaurante unashamedly
serves up its hearty Mediterranean and Asian dishes. Brasil Steakhouse is
definitely the place for succulent steaks and delicious drinks, and The
Office by the Medano Beach is famous for its al fresco tables with wide
variety of food and snack options.
NIGHTLIFE
The healthiest venues for nightlife in Baja California are certainly to be
found in Cabo San Lucas. University students from the U.S. certainly don't
come here during their schoolbreak for nothing! Billygan's Island on
the Medano Beach is one of the three beach-bar restaurants that wholeheartedly
embrace the beach party-goers who don't mind sand in their toes. El
Squid Roe across from the marina offers a wild party atmosphere with table
dancing a usual routine of many customers. For disco-dancers and
bar-hoppers, Again & Again, Hardrock Cafe, Kokomo, NoWhere Bar, and The
Rainbow Bar are tailored just for you. Cabo Wabo is owned by a
famous rocker Sammy Hagar who once in a while gives performance himself. A
great place for live music with an outrageously lively atmosphere. The
elder set of crowd may find Giggling Marlin more salubrious to their
taste with amicable drinks and Latin music. For good hanging-out places
and bars with mind-blowing mixed liquors, try one of Casa Rafael's, Rosato
Ristorante, Margaritavilla, Love Shack, or Latitude 22+. You
can, of course, visit all of them if your duration of stay in Cabo permits.
