Centro Cultural de Acapulco
Besides art displays, this art center also hosts a collection of
archeological collection excavated from the ruins of Guerrero as well as other
finds related to the regional history. Other sections of the center
include a gallery where paintings and sculptures done by both local and
nationally-acclaimed artists are on exhibit as well as a library which is open
to the public.
CICI
CICI stands for Centro Internacional de Convivencia Infantil, a magnificent
water-sports park ideal for a family vacation. There are frequent dolphin,
seal and diving shows daily. Other fun-filled attractions include the poll
with artificial waves, a small tide pool aquarium, an 80m water toboggan, and a
Sky ride.
Centro de Convenciones
This is a huge convention center which houses a permanent crafts gallery,
temporary special exhibitions, a large plaza, theaters and concert halls.
The center also offers a Fiesta Mexicana several evenings each week.
Magico Mundo Marino
The aquarium attracts flocks of visitors with its various shows such as the
feeding of crocodiles, a sea lion show, piranhas and turtles, water toboggans as
well as an interesting oceanographic museum. Moreover, there are both
fresh water and salt water swimming pools where the whole family can enjoy in
water activities together.
Fuerte de San Diego
Originally built in 1616, this pentagonal fort has been restored after the
1776 earthquake to its original beauty. The fort once served to protect
the Spanish galleons and their trading route between the Philippines and Mexico
until the early 19th century. Visitors to the fort can visit the Museo
Historico de Acapulco as well as drink in the scenic view of the city from the
top.
Playas Caleta Y Caletilla
The beaches here are naturally protected by La Roqueta Island which guards
against the fierce Pacific currents, leaving the beaches washed with soft
lulling waves and smooth sand. Visitors can enjoy jet skiing, swimming and
boat tours as well as stopping by the Mágico Mundo Marino aquarium which
is a hair-breadth away.
Laguna de Tres Palos
The swamp around Laguna de Tres Palos was once used as a location for the
early Tarzan films. This freshwater lagoon is home to countless species of
tropical vegetation and native fauna. Birdwatching is recommended as it's
a haven of herons as well as other waterfowl.
Barra Vieja
This long stretch of clean and palm-strewn beach is the point where the
lagoon of Laguna de Tres Palos converges with the Pacific waves. It's an
idyllic beach void of large tourist crowds and one of the spots to catch the
freshest seafood.
